Alpine Lakes!

Colchuck Lake

I left the city yesterday, drove to the mountains, hiked four miles straight up, jumped in an alpine lake, then hiked four miles back down. I carried my new Backpack no.4 with me, a bag blanket, my swimsuit, summit sandwich and all the other bits a very amateur hiker has with her on one of the most popular hikes in this region. It was a reminder of why I wanted to live in the northwest. Those mountains are magic and magic is all I’m after these days.

I’ve been so overworked the last 4 months. It has left me completely depleted on my few non working hours. Days like yesterday remind me of why I shouldn’t let myself get so far away from the ability to even have adventure. I’ve never had a life of glamorous travel but I have always tried to create the space for daily adventure within the confines of my available time and resources. The entirety of Moop Shop came from that origin. Years before I even started this business. I had zero dollars, was a young single mom, in school full time, working multiple jobs and I needed a bag. I stitched together some fabric on an old sewing machine and made a very simple, very large tote to carry my things so I could take my daughter to the beach. That simple beginning is why the idea of daily adventure is a bit of a mantra here at MoopHQ. Most of us do not have the resources to gear up and travel to fantastic places on the regular. I want our bags to be the thing you use no matter what your needs are. Just fill it up and go somewhere. Down the street to the coffee shop, 30 minutes away to your favorite bike trail or a few hours to a trailhead where you’ll throw on a backpack you filled up with snacks so you could climb to the top of a mountain and jump off a rock into the impossibly green waters of an alpine lake for a baptism of sorts. Suddenly dunked, not sure what to expect, sincerely praying for magic.

BAG: Backpack no.4 in Mushroom Gray
BAG BLANKETS!: Quick drying, compact, turkish towels that I use as often as beach/pool/alpine lake towels as I do couch blankets.
INSIDE MY BAG: a Tiny Zip! I keep bandaids, bug spray, advil and a few wipes in here. A little emergency kit tucked into the small interior pocket of my pack.
