Founded in early 2007, at the edge of the Western Massachusetts Berkshire Mountains, we went on to spend a dozen years in the Rust Belt, building, growing and creating community in Pittsburgh, PA. The pandemic changed our course a bit and we decided we needed to live with the potential for sea creatures on our days off, so we relocated to sunny Seattle, where we currently design and manufacture our bags and run an occasional storefront inside our design studio.
SUSTAINABILITY
We've built our brand on quality construction, story telling through object making, time tested materials and ethical manufacturing. We believe in minimizing our environmental footprint by producing all of our goods within a few miles of our studio. We believe the bags and objects we make have a different kind of energy because we are so invested and interested in their outcome being remarkably good. This kind of magic comes from relationships, connections, lots of trust and a mutual belief that the object, its outcome and the person who will get to use it after it is made, all want useful things that will hold up to daily wear and tear. Believing in the start to finish process is what makes our product so trusted. We run our studio with infallible optimism, true anecdotes of what it means to make things in the world, a belief in people gathering together for conversations over very good meals and bike rides.
