This is my favorite part of chocolate chip cookies. so good.
This recipe comes from my sister, who makes the best chocolate chip cookies. Super easy and super good:
1cup brown sugar
1tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp sale
2 1/2cups flour
chocolate chips, or a chocolate bar, chopped with a knife (my preferred method)
combine the butter, sugar and brown sugar in your stand mixer bowl and mix until everything is combined...then, turn the speed up so it whips together.
next add the egg and vanilla and mix until combined.
next add the baking soda and salt and give it a quick mix.
next add your flour, 1 cup at a time, mixing between cups. Don't be tempted to add much more flour...1/2cup at most. If your dough is too sticky, refrigerate it for a 1/2 hour before baking...just be sure you have already added your chocolate chips.
next add your chocolate chips or chopped chocolate. I have found that chopped chocolate will make your cookies a little more flat as they bake. But, they are truly so much better that way. But, chips are fine, too! So, go with what you prefer or what you have on hand.
Bake in a preheated, 350 degree oven for 9-11 minutes. We cook ours on a parchment lined cookie sheet and they always turn our perfect. You can do without, but you may need to adjust your cooking time.
When they come out of the oven, let them sit on the cookie sheet for 2 minutes before scooping them off to a cooling rack. Your cookies should have just the right amount of crunchiness and chewiness.
