This past weekend, Parker and I moved Clyde to his new home. It was a bittersweet day for us. I love that kitty so much. He’s the funniest animal I have ever known and he brought so much love and entertainment to our lives for the last few years. It was a tough reality to admit how allergic I am to him. But, I spent a long time trying to find the right home for him and I’m so happy with how it all worked out.
Last summer, John Pena worked in our studio as he was prepping for his show at The Mattress Factory (a fantastic, show by the way..did you see it?). He would often come in to work after we had left for the day so he spent many evenings with Clyde. They became buds! One of the things I really like about John is his commitment to daily practice. I try to align myself with those who work hard at what they do and who are dedicated to building a life around creative practice, whatever form it may take.
For the last several years John has made a daily illustration and publishes them at Daily Geology and in a small book that he will mail to you. The first one I saw was over the summer when Clyde tried to sneak out while John was working and yesterday’s was an update on Clyde! I’ll be reading along, hoping for Clyde drawings and I hope you will, too! John publishes these daily drawings in a small book…you should subscribe so you can get something more interesting than junk mail from your postal carrier…and, you’ll get to see Clyde updates on his new life with John. I’m really happy about John and Clyde together…they’re a good pair.
